Definitions of terms

'Accommodation unit'

An accommodation unit means the part of a retirement village in which a resident has an exclusive right to reside.

'Customer sale arrangement '

A customer sale arrangement is an arrangement for the sale of electricity by an electricity retailer to a person (known as the relevant customer), but only if the electricity is supplied for consumption in Queensland and the supply of electricity is measured by a meter.

'Common facility'

A common facility is an electrical or mechanical installation or item of equipment that:

  1. is located in or otherwise relates to a part of the building, and
  2. is for the use and enjoyment of the occupants of the building, and
  3. is not for any particular place of business or residence within the building.

'Electricity sale arrangement'

This means: 

  1. a customer sale arrangement
  2. a power card arrangement, or
  3. an on-supply arrangement

'Farming shed'

A building or silo that is located on land used primarily for primary production and is itself used only for primary production. A farming shed does not include a building used indirectly for primary production, e.g. for residential or accommodation purposes connected with primary production, whether the use is permanent, temporary or occasional

'Horticulture'

Horticulture includes amenity horticulture to the extent it comprises the commercial production or wholesale selling of horticultural products e.g. cut flower or turf production, or the carrying on of a wholesale plant nursery. Apart from this, amenity horticulture is excluded.
Examples of activities which are excluded are indoor plant hire, landscaping or maintenance of a park or golf course, carrying on a retail plant nursery and the retail sale of cut flowers.

'Master electricity supply'

The supply of electricity to a duplex building relating to both of the units in the building.

'Multi-unit building'

A multi-unit building is a building that includes two or more self-contained places of residence or business. These places of residence or business do not include detached houses.

'Power card arrangement'

A power card arrangement exists for premises in Queensland (known as the power card premises for the arrangement) if an electricity retailer has the facility to sell electricity for consumption at the power card premises using a card operated meter installed, and available for operation, for the power card premises. It does not matter whether:

  1. the power card premises are occupied
  2. the power card premises are connected for the supply of electricity
  3. electricity is being consumed at the power card premises
  4. the card operated meter is installed at the power card premises.

'Premises'

This includes the following:

  1. a building or other structure
  2. a part of a building or other structure
  3. land where a building or other structure, or part of a building or other structure is situated.

'Primary production'

This means:

  1. agriculture
  2. dairy farming
  3. pasturing of animals
  4. maintaining animals for the purposes of selling them or their  bodily produce, including natural increase, for human consumption
  5. apiculture
  6. aquaculture
  7. commercial fishing
  8. horticulture.

'Religious body'

For the purposes of the Religious Bodies and Other Institutions Exemption - Form 4, a religious body must meet all the following criteria:

  1. the body must be formally constituted
  2. members or followers subscribe to common articles of faith or beliefs
  3. the body regularly conducts religious services for members or followers for religious worship
  4. if there is a ministry, ministers undergo a formal training program.

'Retirement village'

A retirement village means:

  1. a retirement village under the Retirement Villages Act 1999, or
  2. premises made up of 2 or more independent living units or serviced units, managed and used for the permanent residence of persons who are either or both of the following 
    1. older members of the community
    2. retired persons.

 

'Security lighting'

Security lighting means lighting used primarily for either or both of the following:

  1. protection of property
  2. safety of individuals
